Caroline Srbeny, LCPC
Hi there! I’m Caroline. I earned a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Roosevelt University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Although I have long been interested in neuropsychology, my path to becoming a therapist began in 2018 when I taught at a therapeutic day school and realized the unmet needs within the neurodivergent community.
Since becoming a therapist, I have worked for 4 years with adults coping with concerns such as anxiety, depression, substance use, ADHD, relational trauma, and OCD. My specialization is helping late-diagnosed or “high masking” autistic adults as they navigate relationships, identity, and everyday life. I’m also passionate about working with clients coping with the grief and anxiety that comes with chronic illness and disability. As both an autistic and chronically ill therapist, it’s important to me that clients feel heard and understood.
My approach is authentic, focusing on creating a safe and nonjudgmental space free from the pressure to put on a mask or “be normal”. Clients can expect sessions to feel collaborative, relaxed, and conversational. So put on your comfy clothes, grab a cozy blanket, and let’s talk. I practice from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework, which emphasizes exploring how to live more like the person you want to be. My commitment lies in creating a therapeutic space that is trauma-informed, neurodivergent- and queer-affirming, and sex-positive.
In my free time, I enjoy reading historical romance novels, painting my nails, and watching dystopian and survival movies.
